I became a porn star to survive in America — Afro Candy opens up on her life, career

Image
US-based Nigerian actress, singer and porn star, Judith  Mazagwu popularly known Afro Candy has been in the country since last week. She is in the country to pay her last respect to her mother, Agatha Opara, whose remains were laid to rest on Saturday, April 30, in her country home, in Imo State. She was our guest on Vanguard Live Chat with celebrities on Instagram yesterday, where she revealed so many things about her life and career, including what inspired her to become a porn star among others. You are truly enjoying your stay back home after being away for almost eight years? There is no place like home. I think I love it here. I missed Nigeria for  years and I’m glad to be here againYou mean different things to different people. Some people see you as an actress and a singer, while many others describe you as a porn star. So, who’s Afro Candy? Afro Candy is everything just as you noted. Everything I mean to everybody to a specific group of people. I am everything you just ment

It is okay for men to cry, whey not?

Image
As with most boys, I was taught growing up that crying was a form of weakness. When was the last time that you saw a grown man cry? I haven’t seen a man cry in some time, nor have I cried properly in years. I was taught that boys and men were expected to ”stay strong”, which was reinforced over and over by movies, teachers, school, books and songs (special shout out to The Cure’s “Boys Don’t Cry”). The last time that I fully broke down was at my grandfather’s funeral. I managed not to cry for the whole lead up, but when they showed the photo slideshow I couldn’t stop myself. I was hardly 18. I did my best to hide my tears, and I haven’t fully sobbed since. Now that I’m older, I’ve learned that crying is healthy and there isn’t anything to be ashamed of, but after spending so many years suppressing my emotional response to cry, I can’t cry even when I want to – at least not properly. This is pretty common. After years of suppressing our actual feelings, we men don’t actually cry when

Your Body During a Breakup: The Science of a Broken Heart

Image
Breakups are emotional roller coasters. Actually that’s not true. If a breakup was anything like a roller coaster the end would be visible from the start, you could say ‘no thanks’ to the ride and at the end of it, for a hefty sum the memory could be savoured forever with a flimsy cardboard-framed photo. Breakups are are more like being under a roller coaster.  Before we knew the science we knew the feeling, and used words associated with physical pain – hurt, pain, ache – are used describe the pain of a relationship breakup. Now we know why. The emotional pain of a breakup and physical pain have something in common – they both activate the same part of the brain Brain scans of people recently out of a relationship have revealed that social pain (the emotional pain from a breakup or rejection) and physical pain share the same neural pathways. In one study , 40 people who had recently been through an unwanted breakup had their brains scanned while they looked at pictures of their exes

We don't have anything to say about modern world.

It's collapsing from beneath us Tearing us apart Faster than light further from the start Have much fright for this dangerous barren land My words may end up killing every popular band Where will we go, what do we do, when do we see What we are really here for, save it for the tree Those who question will go beneath everything, (let me show, let me show, yeah, yeah, let me show) Further than we go, further than we know Beneath all the islands and all of the Russian snow Beneath all the Middle Eastern sand far as it goes Beneath the American badlands (here, let me show) Canyons, rivers, oceans and sea Believe me, it's nothing, my music is free Take these unjust words and listen carefully Yeah, it may sound like I teach geography But trust me, I'm just saying you have to be aware Of what's around you, it just isn't fair We stare at a screen that tell us what to do Tells us what to do, yeah, tells us what to do We stare at a screen that tells us what to do Tells us wh

Today's world and our society

Today’s world is a place where nobody knows who they really are People change up on you but act different from a far This world is messed up and the people changed too Nobody cares about anyone it’s all snapchat and youtube Kids getting bullied everyday and treated like stools And then you wonder why they out here shooting up their schools You see our world today and it isn’t accepting People want you to turn out a this way but get mad when you weren’t what they were expecting Instead of saying “I wish I would've stood up for that kid” And the “I wish I would’ve said something and been there for him” Be the ripple to start that wave Be the one people need in their lives everyday I’m not trying to tell you that you’re doing wrong I’m just tryna tell you to keep the world strong Not everybody is perfect and you can’t be mad But the day we expect it is the day it’s all bad Nobody want’s you to be perfect but want you perfect, I don’t understand Believe me

Mama build me another world today.

I doesn't fit in the world where the vicious people are driven by greed.  The world where the greed is everything for them.  Mama, build me another world.  A world with all my good friends, I am definitely tried of the greedy people around.  A world where people have a whole face, I don't want to hide from any virus anymore.  A world where my grandma stuffs me with apple pie again and takes me in her arms when I have a stomach ache.  A world where I can play on the playground again.  A world where I can celebrate my birthday again, go to sports or music school.  A world where people look forward to each other again and are not afraid of each other. A world in which I can be a normal child again."   #timeforchange

Famous Love Stories in Ancient Egypt

Image
Supervisor Elham AbolFateh Editor in Chi Abo Dashish and Nawal Sayed CAIRO,Feb. 9 (SEE)- Love was the key core of the ancient Egyptian civilization. Goddess Hathor was the lord of love and tenderness and the ancient Egyptians loved working, so they succeeded to build the greatest civilization of the world. Pharaonic civilization was full of many love stories. Poetry was found written on papyrus and on the walls of tombs and temples. Love during the Pharaohs’ eras was reflected in their writings. Ancient Egyptians were clever in selecting words which expressed their passion. They used the word “Mer Ek” which means ‘love’ in hieroglyph. Love songs often expressed love stories that had happy endings.
