Random thought. Where does the soul go after life

Image
Theology Last Things Heaven and Hell When a person dies, where does his or her spirit and body go until the Second 2 Min Read Throughout its history, the church has struggled with the concept of what is called the “intermediate state”—our position between the time we die and the time Christ consummates his kingdom and fulfills the promises that we confess in the Apostles’ Creed. We believe in the resurrection of the body. We believe there will be a time when God reunites our soul and our body, and that we will have a glorified body even as Christ came out of the tomb as the “firstborn from the dead.” In the meantime, what happens? The most common view has been that, at death, the soul immediately goes to be with God and there is a continuity of personal existence. There is no interruption of life at the end of this life, but we continue to be alive in our personal souls upon death. There are those who have been influenced by a cultic view called psychopannychia, more famously kno...

War is kind

Do not weep, maiden, for war is kind. Because your lover threw wild hands toward the sky And the affrighted steed ran on alone, Do not weep. War is kind.     Hoarse, booming drums of the regiment,     Little souls who thirst for fight,     These men were born to drill and die.     The unexplained glory flies above them,     Great is the battle-god, great, and his kingdom —     A field where a thousand corpses lie. Do not weep, babe, for war is kind. Because your father tumbled in the yellow trenches, Raged at his breast, gulped and died, Do not weep. War is kind.     Swift blazing flag of the regiment,     Eagle with crest of red and gold,     These men were born to drill and die.     Point for them the virtue of slaughter,     Make plain to them the excellence of killing     And a field where a thousand corpses lie. Mother whose heart hung humble as a button On...

Farewell my love

Is it really true our love is over now? Can it be time for us to say goodbye? Too soon, it's much too soon, my love, for me; You smile with ease, but I can only sigh. We've shared our lives and given so much love; I can't believe we're really going to part; You're moving toward a new life without me; I'm left with scars upon my broken heart. Go on now, if you must; I'll get along; How much it hurts, I don't want you to know. I'll set you free without inducing guilt, But as you leave, the silent tears will flow. I can't be mad; I love you way too much; I'll hide my sadness now, so you can't tell. Sweet happiness is what I wish for you; Farewell my love, I hope that you fare well.

Queen of roses

Years have passed, many fears and pain have come and gone. The kindom of shadows i once hid in has now become a palace of roses, Full of beauty and thorns coexisting as one. The once dark hallways now decorated with memories, The throne made of sorrow now glistens with hope, Her gown sewn together with lies and insults now jaded with love and kindness, Her crown once created by suicidal thoughts now shines with life. The darkness and demons still linger but are now challanged by the light and happiness that was found. The two worlds coexsiting as one. The Queen of darkness, the old me, is now the Queen of roses. She who found good in the bad, She who lives as a rose, Beautiful and bright with painful thorns of the past. She continues to grow and open her petals, accepting her thorns. She is the Queen of Roses

Push away

I want to be brave. I want to be smart. I want to be saved. I want a new start. I'm constantly being pushed, Pushed to the edge. Knock me down, now I'm crushed. I'm falling over the ledge. People tell me it's going to be all right, But how much longer do I have to fight? I know I have a purpose in life, But how do I reach it when I'm trapped? Nothing to do but wish into the night. When I ask, it's never too far from being denied. Save me or join me; just don't say no. I promise I won't let you go. We're not too far behind now. A little further up is where our future lies. Change is something I want to allow. From here on out, all I'll do is rise. Lord, I need the faith. I need the strength.
